Art Review: Khehla Chepape Makgato at Harris Stanton
This pop-up show at Harris Stanton's Cleveland location features work by Zygote's current Artist in Residence, Khehla Chepape Makgato.
It's interesting for me to see work by painter/printmakers that actually make their own prints. Often, painters will commission master printers do create limited print editions of their work, which is wonderful in a different way and results in beautiful, meticulously executed work at a more affordable price for collectors.
However, artists who roll up their sleeves and dive into the matrix as they would a canvas create works that have a sort of negotiation or dialog occuring between mediums that's exciting to see, if that's the sort of dialog you're into. The life of the process is a key component of the final product.
